Once you get the knack of the locking mechanism (clear instructions on the card you get with the belt) the belt is very secure and I am able to fully brace against it more so than I can with a normal leather buckle belt. I do slide my belt round once tightened so the metal part is at the back so it doesn't get in the way. I've only used the belt for squats so far and it faired very well, I am yet to test it out on my oly lifts so will update in the coming weeks......
